PAACS Resident Profile

Dr. Ngam Blessing Ngoin

Dr. Ngam Blessing Ngoin trusts that she is Christ's ambassador in the medical field. Growing up, she was able to see the impact that her parents made in their community by both their faith and as healthcare workers. Her father is a nurse-screener and her mother a midwife. They touched many lives, and Dr. Ngoin wants to do the same.

During her final year of medical school, while completing her thesis, she studied surgeon to patient ratios. What she found was heartbreaking. Surgeon to patient ratios in Africa ranged between 0 - 1.4 per 100,000, and most rural areas had no surgeon at all. Her research solidified in her mind that surgery was a way that she could serve her community.

Dr. Ngoin learned about PAACS while interning at Mbingo and was encouraged to apply by some of her colleagues. She found PAACS to be a quality surgical program which included a spiritual component, and it really captured her attention. She was further inspired by Dr. Sama Akanyun who was selected as the first female surgical resident at Mbingo.

As a PAACS resident, she admits that the surgical training has been intense and very demanding. She has, however, learned a great deal about self discipline and time management, while also digging deeper into the Word of God. Her community is in great need of a surgeon and more importantly, the saving knowledge of Jesus. As such, she is looking forward to offering compassionate, holistic care while sharing Christ with her patients.
