ABSTRACT SUBMISSION INSTRUCTIONS
PAACS is a faith-based non-governmental organization training surgeons, anesthesiologists, and obstetrician/gynecologists in mission hospitals across Africa. The PAACS Annual Conference will be held in Chicago, IL on October 2-4, 2025.
The purpose of this annual conference is to share educational and programmatic updates about PAACS and to provide learning opportunities in global surgery to participants. This year, we will begin highlighting scholarly work in global surgery.
We are soliciting abstracts from medical students, residents, and fellows.
Abstracts will be selected for in-person or zoom oral and poster presentations at the conference.
PAACS will be accepting online submission on the following topics:
- Global surgery
- Broad-based general and subspecialty surgery (neurosurgery, CT surgery, head and neck surgery, etc.), anesthesia, and OB-GYN within a global context
- Education/Simulation within a global surgery context
- New technologies and techniques within a global surgery context
- Research performed by or in collaboration with PAACS faculty, residents, or alumni
Submissions are due August 1, 2025. Abstract selections will be made by September 1, 2025. Presenters will be responsible for making their own travel and hotel arrangements.

- Format: Microsoft Word
- Margins: 1 inch
- Font: Arial, Helvetica, Palatino Linotype or Georgia
- Title: Font Size 14, Bold, Centered (Do Not Use All Caps)
- Authors: Font Size 11, Centered
- First initial(s) Last Name, Degree (w/o periods), separated by a semi-colon
- Body: Font Size 12, Block Style, Right and Left Justified
- Do not indent paragraphs
- No tabs needed (except for tables/graphics)
- Organization: The information within the body should contain the following:
- Objective: statement of purpose of the study, unless stated in the title
- Methods: description of methods, if pertinent
- Results: summarizing in sufficient detail to support the conclusion(s)
- Conclusion: It is not satisfactory to state the results will be discussed
- Each abstract is limited to one page, including graphs & figures.
