The PAACS Spring 2023 Board of Directors Meeting was a remarkable event that brought together participants from across the world. The next Board of Directors Meeting will take place in October, and we look forward to an increase in attendance. Mark your calendar and join us for the Fall PAACS Board of Directors Meeting in Chicago on October 12-14, 2023.

The Director of Partnership Development is part of the Development Team that provides overall leadership for fundraising including major gifts, corporate and foundation relations, fundraising events, donor communications and stewardship.

The Pan-African Academy of Christian Surgeons (PAACS) is seeking a full-time intern responsible for planning, coordinating and executing high priority, high impact projects related to the growth, expansion and maintenance of PAACS and its partners.

ALL-SAFE (Grand Prize-Winning Team of the Global Surgical Training Challenge) is seeking a full-time project manager to lead development and product scaling of an open-source low-cost laparoscopic training system.

We’re very sad to share the news that Dr. Solomon Endrias passed away suddenly on February 2, 2023. Dr. Endrias was from Ethiopia and graduated from PAACS' General Surgery Program at Soddo Christian Hospital in 2010. Please remember his family in your prayers.

On June 3rd and 4th, PAACS General Surgery In-Service Exams were administered at eleven different PAACS sites. Thirty first year and twenty-four second year trainees sat the exams, the largest number ever.

PAACS is always looking for short-term faculty to serve in our training programs.

At the last PAACS Board of Directors meeting in April 2022, a new PAACS General Surgery program at the Hospital of Hope (HoH) in Togo was approved to start in 2023. This will extend the reach of PAACS into a tenth country in Africa since it started in Gabon in 1996.

During the week of June 12th-18th, PAACS and the Christian Academy of African Physicians (CAAP) joined to host a faculty development conference at the CORAT conference center in Nairobi, Kenya.

The General Surgery Program at Soddo Christian Hospital, Ethiopia, training programs in general surgery and orthopaedic surgery are reaccredited.

The first Kijabe Women Surgeon's Retreat was held in May 2022, thanks to the generous support of our donors. The theme was "Alone We Are Strong; Together We Are Stronger."

PAACS is adding a Head and Neck Surgery residency program at AIC Kijabe Hospital in Kenya in 2023 and will continue to train Head and Neck surgeons at Mbingo Baptist Hospital in Cameroon.

On Friday, April 29th and Saturday, April 30th, PAACS held its Spring 2022 Board of Directors meeting. This hybrid meeting was held in Chicago, and persons from around the globe were able to participate either in-person or virtually.

On February 4th, 2022, Nkhoma held a white coat ceremony in the chapel for its first class of PAACS residents, Drs. Caleb Kapengule and Vitu Mwafulirwa.

The PAACS Global Day of Fasting and Prayer is on Monday, June 6th. Please register to join together with the worldwide PAACS family on Zoom to intercede on behalf of the PAACS ministry.

An update on the final revision of PAACS Spiritual Curriculum as well as news on spiritual retreats at our programs in Africa.

The PAACS Board of Directors created a Professional Development Committee six years ago with the charge to help our faculty improve their teaching skills.

The PAACS General Surgery Program at Harpur Memorial Hospital is bringing life saving surgical care and the gospel to Africa and the Middle East.

Dr. Cheney is part-time faculty at the PAACS General Surgery Program at Malamulo Adventist Hospital in Malawi.

Dr. Juvenal Musavuli and other PAACS graduates have been featured in an article by World Magazine. We are proud of the impact that PAACS graduates are making in Liberia and throughout Africa.

He will be sharing program updates as well as interviews with Dr. Salvador de la Torre, Hospital Director of Nkhoma Mission Hospital in Malawi, one of PAACS newest training sites, and Dr. John Mellinger, who is part of PAACS Leadership and the Vice President of the American Board of Surgery.
